chronic bronchitis, lung irritation from environmental pollution.
explanation of the mechanism
this condition is caused by dryness in the lungs which injures the fluids and causes phlegm. this type of phlegm is referred to as dry-phlegm and is manifested by coughing with deep-seated sputum that is difficult to expectorate. the phlegm interrupts the flow of lung qi, which results in coughing and wheezing. the dry pathogenic influence attacking the lungs also causes a dry, sore throat. the red and dry tongue with little coating, and the rapid and thin but strong pulse reflect the presence of dryness in the lungs.
